20% off the entire Warren!
In honor of the approach of Christmas (one of my tippy-top favorite times of the year!) everything in The Warren is 20% off! Yes, that is correct! 20% off any of the lovely rings, necklaces, and bracelets as well as the other paraphernalia like those lovely Shakespearean Insult bookmarks which would make lovely stocking-stuffers for your friends who like snark and sarcasm! If you see something you like, instructions for Ordering From The Warren can be found here.
Merry Christmas, darlings. Let's not forget why we're celebrating this holiday. The birth of Jesus Christ is the main thing that rejoices my heart and this precious season of Advent is my favorite of all. May His peace and joy fill your hearts with quiet wonder throughout this month as well as the other eleven of every year.

Scarlet Pimpernel Pin
"Sir Andrew quickly and dexterously put out the flames and replaced the candelabra upon the table; but this had taken him a few seconds to do, and those seconds had been all that Marguerite needed to cast a quick glance at the paper, and to note its contents - a dozen words in the same distorted handwriting she had seen before, and bearing the same device - a star-shaped flower drawn in red ink."
-The Scarlet Pimpernel by Baroness Emmuska Orczy
The Scarlet Pimpernel is one of my favorite stories, as I'm sure you've realized by now, so I was delighted when I passed a stand at our county fair and spied a Scarlet-Pimpernel brooch amid the cacophony of vintage costume-jewelry. I snapped it up, of course, and am delighted to present to you the ideal bit of British mockery. It could be worn by the ladies, of course, but if you were a daring sort of man and liked to imitate Sir Percy's manner of dress, it could certainly double as a tie-pin or button-hole adornment. However you decide to wear it, this little English wayside flower caused a stir in the French Revolution and will be equally admired today.

Shakespearean Insult bookmarks
"The souls most fed with Shakespeare's flame
Still sat unconquered in a ring,
remembering him like anything."
-G.K. Chesterton
"Shakespeare's flame" could be argued to be almost anything--the man was prolific, you know. But I am inclined to think his flame burned the brightest and wittiest in his insults. There is nothing quite as hilarious as going along in the staid and sober play and then coming upon some raving-tearing-slur; it always makes me laugh. So I thought, what better thing to do than make a set of Shakespearean Insult bookmarks geared toward the writer? The quotes I chose are less personal (and thus even funnier) than some; they affect a much larger audience and find a place in everyday conversation if you let them. These bookmarks combine a classy appearance with funky fonts and timeless wit to form the perfect marking-piece for any book you're currently reading. (And to give you a tap on the shoulder when you find yourself making these mistakes in your writing. ;)
"You speak an infinite deal of nothing"
-and-
"Lord, what fools these mortals be!"
"Brevity is the soul of wit."
-and-
"Dispute not with her: she is lunatic"
Set of 4 Shakespearean Insult bookmarks:
(set can be divided and bookmarks bought individually)
Price: $11.00 for the set (plus shipping/handling)**
{or $3.00 apiece (plus shipping/handling)}**

**Shipping and handling for bookmarks will cost less than other orders due to being lighter-weight and easier to ship
Rutupiae Medallion-Necklace inspired by Rosemary Sutcliff
"'It is very hot tonight,' Justin said, and loosed the folds of his light cloak, revealing the sprig of rye grass thrust through the bronze clasp at the neck of his tunic."
-The Silver Branch by Rosemary Sutcliff
Inspired by the sweeping, heather-kissed prose of Rosemary Sutcliff's historical novels, I am pleased to bring to you the "Rutupiae Medallion" collection. Each medallion is adorned with a genuine wax seal depicting an inkwell and feather-pen, thus combining the simple glory of Roman-Britain adornment with your business of word-weaving. These imperial-looking pendants are strung on ribbon and made from stamped sealing wax and re-purposed metal bracelet-discs, giving them an authentic weightiness.
I can imagine Flavia of The Lantern Bearers receiving one of these elegant pendants from her brother, Aquila, and tying the ribbons to match the length at which she'd like to wear it that particular day. The medallions come with moss-green, red, or copper seals. I have two of each color in stock, currently.

The Scarlet Pimpernel-Inspired Necklace: "Marguerite Blakeney"
"Approval, sir, in my opinion, demands the attainment of perfection. And in that sense, you rather overrate the charms of your society. I'faith, for one thing, it does seem monstrous ill-dressed for any society, even a new one."
